Welcome to the Brightwell-cum-Sotwell Parish Council website, which the Parish Council has just launched to provide you with details of your councillors, parish facilities and local information. We hope it is helpful, but we are always grateful for suggestions to improve it.
Many of you will now have met Lucy Dalby, our Parish Clerk. Although she does not live in the village and is part-time, she can normally be found in the Parish Council Office on three mornings a week, and can be contacted by email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Also, please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the Parish Council to raise issues or let us know your views, or attend the monthly Council meetings in the Village Hall.
In the eleventh hour of the Core Strategy process, SODC approved a Conservation Area designation for Winterbrook. As a result, the Inspector is now recommending that the expansion of Wallingford happens on Site B. This now threatens the rural setting of our village and the County Council’s Minerals Planning Strategy may exacerbate the threat – we urge you to pay very close attention to this. On a more positive note, the process of producing an updated Parish Plan has started. Please make your voice heard; the point of the Plan is to represent our collective views.
As most of you will know, details about parish life can be found on the community website www.brightwellcumsotwell.co.uk. But we also wish to enhance and modernise links with as many people in the parish as we can through an e-mail directory. Please take a little time to send Lucy an e-mail giving your contact details or updating them as necessary.
It is important that we can communicate with you as easily as possible.
Sue Robson, Chairman
